Originality.
just a quick post, i could post a lot more stuff but a lot of the stuff i would post is already out there. i post things that i have thought of on my own and dont think many others know about.
Metaphors for theistic humanity and from the bible.
I have had these thoughts for a while and forgot about them until just recently. here is what sparked my ideas aflame again.
some guy says this you dont even have to be part of a church to be saved. all you have to do is believe that Jesus was the messiah, he was both God and man, and that God Jesus and the Holy spirit are three persons but one God. i dont care if im tormented, torment me all you want. but i wont tollerate someone who disrespects my God.
satan was the snake that ultimately convinced them to eat from the tree.

and btw, there are less laws in the bible than there are in the us, but most of us know, understand, and follow those
notice his user name.
here is my response:
@ijustwannabeHISsheep yeah and most of those laws include killing people for anything wrong and other disgusting shit. im sure you do want to be a sheep, you clearly want to fit in with the brainless herd pretty well.
Now if you are attentive and you have read a good portion of my blog, you might notice i leave a puzzle piece of myself in every post. some are more obvious (like this one) and some are very subtle. here is one. i dont think before i talk initially. whenever i give a first response to something and sometimes my responses in general, i dont think before i do it, i think after i do it, yet my response is exactly what i would have wanted to say. i think it is because of my adhd and bipolar, my thought processes are racing or really fast and when im not on my meds, jumpy and incoherent. when im on my meds, they make the thoughts coherent, but still fast.
i said he's a sheep, he follows his theistic lifestyle and thoughts without thinking or even examining them in the least. this is the case with most theists. this is the case for most people in some way or another.
here is where the metaphor comes in though.
KEEP IN MIND, THE HEBREW PEOPLE WHO WROTE THE BIBLE SPOKE VERY HEAVILY IN METAPHORS A LOT OF THE TIME! AND ALSO NOTE THIS PASSAGE FROM THE BIBLE: LUKE:12-47 "the servant who knows his masters will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows" jesus said that.
Jesus always referred to his followers as sheep. sheep are known to be practically mindless and follow easily. i think its really funny how this works. as people are brought up in a strongly theistic environment, they follow very easily, their indoctrination runs so deep that they will almost never run astray from their herder jesus (general christian religions).
let us also examine the first book of the bible. now at first i thought i was leading the evidence hear because i believed the story of adam and eve was basically telling people that knowledge is bad and trying to keep people in ignorance so they would follow easier but i just thought about it for a sec and i realize, im right.
the story of adam and eve basically goes like this.
they were the first humans and they were put in the garden and told not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. they did and god made them mortal (they were immortal before). he also put a bunch of other trees there to keep them content with not eating the one tree. he also said "if you eat from the tree, you will surely die".
now this conveys some very interesting ideas. i think our mortality in the story represents our humanity, and without our sense of morality, we are inhuman monsters. although its a very primitive way of conveying the concept and has a few flaws, it seems pretty solid. now here is the other thing, the church throughout the ages has been known to try keep people in ignorance. and here is another interesting thing, many studies have shown that the less educated are more theistic and the more educated are less theistic. a overwhelming majority of the scientific community identifies themselves as "not believing in a personal god".
here is where it all comes together.
god=religion, mainly the church throughout the ages.
eating from tree=knowledge, or even more specifically, knowledge of what is right and wrong.
not eating from tree=ignorance.
mortality=our humanity.
immortality=inhumane.
the other trees=church trying to keep us ignorant.
lets examine the two stories.
the church has ruled over humanity for a good portion of its existence.
to keep those it rules over in ignorance makes it easier to rule. the church killed anybody that went against its teachings until pretty recently in humanity's timeline. science and math were looked at as evil for a while. what we want to do is largely dictated by what we think is good, we think its right to become smarter, not to be ignorant. the church clearly didnt think so and many creationists dont want people learning about things that contradict their beliefs because its "bad". curing yourself of ignorance is "bad" to them. the ability to get educated and out of ignorance was there, but as people become more educated, they start not going by what religion teaches of them and they become abandoned by the religion as they abandon the religion. as we educate ourselves we understand each other more and gain a better sense of what is right and wrong due to understanding others and how we all function. we eventually see that the only way to correct a bad view is to teach one the right view or what we think is right. and education leads us to a better sense of right. if we remain in stagnant ignorance, we are bound to burn people for being "witches" and anybody who doesnt think like we do. our eating from the tree cures us of our ignorance as we understand that knowledge is right and ignorance is wrong thereby gaining our humanity.
so the church has ruled us for a while and wanted us to be ignorant and tried to keep us that way but the ability to cure our ignorance was there, we were threatened with death though if we ate. as we as a species began to eat from the tree, we separated ourselves from the inhumane behavior of the church and began to truly know our humanity and educate ourselves essentially learning what is good and bad for us all and we see that ignorance kills. we will truly be human in the future after having completely separating ourselves from ignorance.
god created adam and eve and was essentially their master and he tried to keep them from eating from the tree but the option was still there. he said they would surely die if they ate from the tree and he put a bunch of other trees there to keep them content with not eating from the one tree. they began to see the tree was looking more delicious and so they ate from it and they gained the knowledge of good and evil and by doing so they separated themselves from god and became mortal.
now there is one part i left out of both stories and it is crucial to this whole thing (this goes much deeper)
the only question remains is: where does satan fit in? in the bible god called him lucifer which meant "morning star" or "brightest angel". i think satan represents enlightenment. its funny, stars light up the sky and the morning star is the brightest star "ENLIGHTENTMENT" get it?
our innate desire for learning. children are born and they learn at an astounding rate, you learn the most when you are young, almost all children are excited about school and learning. satan is our innate desire for enlightenment.
so fit that in to both stories.
thats pretty much it for that...except i used to be a big conspiracy theory nut about 3-4 years ago when i was 14-17. i believed all of it because i was gullible. reptilians, illuminati, nibiru, 9/11, greys, you name it. i dont believe any of it now but i still have what i researched about all of it way back when. i even had a youtube channel with hundreds of favorites of conspiracy theory vids (i cant remember what it was called).
one reoccurring thing that kept popping up was satan and the baphomet. they were apparently one of the major representative signs of the illuminati. now i also remember that the baphomet symbol was meant to represent enlightenment. keep in mind i dont believe the illuminati exist. now it is a fact that the illuminati did at one time exist. i also know that the word "illuminati" is very close to "illuminate" which is a synonym for enlightenment so the baphomet or satan fits well. now the satan thing is usually why they are represented as evil.
although i dont believe they exist, i think there is something to all this. i dont think its very big, but i do think there is something here that i am missing.
now here is the only real question i have with the metaphor: were the people who wrote the bible basically just telling people how to rule over people, or were they saying that our desire for more knowledge would eventually lead to our downfall?
think about it.

Meaning
i meant to make this yesterday but i accidentally closed my browser while working on it and the post was lost. i didnt feel like making it all over again but i do now. recently, i have been arguing with a few theists and their argument this time is "nothing we do matters if no eternal afterlife exists." this is my counter argument: does my bed matter to my water bottle? of course not and why? because meaning requires a mind. its subjective. for a thing to have meaning, there must be one whom its meaningful to. we give things meaning. this is easy to demonstrate. you give meaning to everything because of an afterlife. therefore the afterlife is also meaningful to you. i dont give meaning to anything after life at this point, because i think this life is all that matters while im living it. objective meaning is impossible. also, if there is an afterlife, then i think it makes this life meaningless. we assign meaning or the amount of meaning something has based on how rare it is. how valuable it is to us depends on how rare it is. all those one time special moments in your life, think back to them. how many times have they happened? how long did they last? can you remember a time that is special to you? i guarantee its probably special because it was a time that you will never live in again or a moment you will hardly ever if at all experience again. nobody thinks going to work everyday has meaning. poor people think food is meaningful while the rich dont think so because they have it everyday. things we experience often arent as meaningful as things that are a once in a lifetime experience. this clearly evidences how the rarity of something generally determines the meaning of something. i also contend, that this is why life is so valuable, because it doesnt last forever. when somebody puts a gun to your head and says "you have 30 minutes to live." i promise that suddenly, those last minutes will become the most precious thing in the world and you will do whatever you can to get out of it. same thing with terminally ill patients. the basic point im making is, if we have eternal life after death, then this life and everything will be meaningless ultimately because eternity is a very long time and you cant kill yourself if you're immortal. i personally think that both heaven and hell would be torture. but more so in heaven. in heaven everything is perfect, if we were all perfect then there would never be any sadness and no sin would be able to be done. our imperfections make us human. happiness is perhaps the thing that matters most to us or has the most meaning so to speak. we cannot have happiness without sadness. concepts exist only because there are things in contrast with those concepts. i know what a star is because i can see where a star isnt. i know what death is because i have seen life end. if no life ended, "death" would not be a thing. life would just be an axiom. axioms in my opinion are just concepts with nothing to contrast with. also, it has been scientifically demonstrated that boredom is the number one cause of depression. tests were done (i forget who by but im sure you can find them) and they deprived people of their senses, its called sensory deprivation. its actually a form of torture. take away sight, sound, feel, and taste as well as smell and leave somebody there, (people volunteered to do this) and within a few days they became suicidal. our happiness is clearly determined by external stimuli.
so now we come to the conclusion. if life lasted forever, we would eventually get bored of everything after having done everything millions or trillions or innumerable times. nothing would have any meaning because everything would be forever. after everything had lost all its meaning and everything had become boring, we would just be wishing we could die. unless we were perfect, then it wouldnt be us because we as humans arent perfect. our imperfections make life worth living so we always have room for improvement. our finite lives are that much more valuable and meaningful because they are finite.

Dehumanization.
yesterday was 9/11 when tragedy occured. there are groups which make different claims about how any why events transpired on that day but most fail to see the bigger picture. apathy toward our fellow man is ultimately responsible. the root of the problem is not seeing people as people, or dehumanization. i've been on the internet for a long while and i notice it a lot. people mistreating others because they are faceless entities. i do it a lot as well. truly it is tragedy. the greatest tragedy. our emptahy comes from our ability to relate to one another. our caring, love, sympathy, sorrow, all stem from our ability to relate. look around at things we dont relate to, we generally dont care for it or appreciate it. our world has no emotion, no face, no feeling, we dont relate to it. our ability to relate coems from our understanding. the more we learn about something the more we understand, as we truly understand something we are able to see the similarities between ourselves and it. thus, we relate better and treat it better. this is even key in movies, relatability in a character is key for us to like the character. just ask anybody who makes movies or shows. on the internet, we dont see a person or a face usually, we just see something we are engaging with. when you talk to people in real life, you see a face and your mannerisms and behaviour changes. this ability to relate or rather, lack thereof is responsible for dehumanization. hitler used this strategy to garner support for killing the jews. that and a mob mind tactic. when we are in a group we can adopt a different mindset very easily, this is evidenced by riots, football games, military, gangs, and more. hitler used nazi propaganda to influence the public into thinking the jews were evil, worthless, scummy, useless, deserving of death. hitler got these big rallies together and the crowd adopted the hivemind. they were riled up by hitlers words and his message stayed even after the rallies were over. he said the german people were a master race and the propaganda said the jews were scum of the earth which made them unrelatable to how the german people saw themselves. how we identify ourselves is also key in relating to others. the nazi's saw the jews not as people, but as trash, and this dehumanization paved the way for nazi's to have no empathy for the jews and thus, they were able to commit the atrocities with ease. all forms of dehumanization stem from ignorance. like i said before, as we understand more and more about something, we begin to relate better. and empathy follows. dehumanization is also responsible for what happened 10 years ago on this day, the nature of extremism is divisive, with any view, one can separate it into two extremes which allows for a "us and them" mentality, essentially saying "we are completely different from them! its us against them! we are right they are wrong!" religious extremism is a perfect example of this and is responsible for 9/11. the muslim religion isnt necessarily extreme, but the culture that has been built upon it is necessarily extreme. they are for the most part, brought up believing that no other religion is true and that they are the one true religion. again, us and them mentality which was caused by the divisive nature of exremism which in this case was applied to religion. they didnt see us as people, they couldnt relate because their views had no tolerance for any other view, they were completely stubborn in allowing acceptance of anything else except their world view to exist. their religion is their identity. we identify ourselves in groups. their group was their identity and everyone outside their group was completely unrelatable to them because they were taught that the existence of other views was directly challenging them and they took it as a attack on their identity. this was met with fierce opposition and their incapacity to relate was key to this and ultimately resulted in the death of many.
the same can be said for any non-accidental death of anybody. in order to kill each other, we must have no empathy for the one we kill. if we have no empathy then it stems from our ignorance aka lack of understanding of them. ignorance is the ultimate evil in the world, it leads to stupidity, sociopathy, dehumanization, destruction, and ultimately, will be the death of the human race if allowed to run rampant.
always remember that everybody is a person, they may be stupid, they may be horrible indeed, but their bad attributes most likely stem from ignorance. and if we arent willing to help them understand to correct their ignorance, then we are no better than them because we are committing the same crime they are. allowing our lack of understanding of them and why they are the way they are to corrupt how we treat them. just insulting them will only divide you two even more. it will only feed their misguided views, treat people with respect, help enlighten those who are ignorant and apathetic toward others by treating them with respect and like they are actual people. it may take a lot of time but in the end, its worth it because one less ignorant person may influence others as well. and if we correct the ignorance that causes tragedies like 9/11 one bit at a time, eventually, tragedies even nearing such a magnitude will be vanishingly rare if not non-existent. as we stop these groups and merge together as one group, humanity, human progress will skyrocket because we will have very little problems with each other.
key things to do:
treat others as if they are you, how you wanted to be treated.
remember that people are people.
remember our faults result mostly if not completely from our ignorance.
understanding, empathy, ultimately erasing ignorance is key to the survival and progress of the human race.
remember to put a face on others when talking to them, remember they are people. (this is similar to #2).
try to understand others, try to enlighten those who are ignorant.
lastly, some people will never be cured of their ignorance, these people are most likely older, their views have been constantly reaffirmed their whole life. it would be like trying to break concrete with a spoon. you could technichally do it but it would take years.
